This was enough reason for her to accept to act in a Kannada movie.After completing her PUC (pre-university course), she took up anchoring television shows for a lark and as a possible alternative career option to spend the two months when she was free before entering a professional course.
Meet Harshika Poonacha, the young engineering student and television anchor who hails from Ammathi in Kodagu district (near Virajpet), whose debut vehicle PUC is all set to hit the screen.
Currently, Harshika is doing her third semester in electrical and electronics engineering from the Cambridge Institute of Technology, Bangalore and is also anchoring a request show on Udaya TV called Nimminda Nimagaagi and another one called Hrudayadinda.

Social problems:
There are thousands of jobs in Coorg but those jobs are held by Kannadigas, especially top jobs; DC, SP, ADC etc and Coorgs must hold those jobs. Where are our young boys and girls supposed to find work other than Coorg? All Kerala people in Coorg run their small businesses relaying on local people to earn profit but Coorgs refuse to run such small businesses because other little rich Coorgs insults the poor Kodavas, instead of helping them. Besides Kodavas love to fight each other - Why all the alcohol drinking among Coorgs - no discipline. I think it is kali Yuga. Diplomatic resolution only works in a normal society and the Kannadigas are psychopathic societies; that is why they have had numerous Rajas to rule them, also throughout India. The ancient India was a divided society and still is – Indians jumps on anything-white people says. Just look the Kannadiga politicians at Bangalore, when an American or British businessmen walks in, they lick white people’s ass inside out like salves for bribe plus for Benz. And the same politicians become bullies in front of Kodavas. The Kannadigas are rats in the rice field! I wonder, how easy it was to conquer the ancient India by the Islamic and British.
Implementation:
Kodavas must acquire some solid determination. In Coorg there is no large-scale varieties of vegetable fields or fruit (such as cherry, apricot, nectarine, peach, pear, strawberry, plum, fig etc) trees to produce large crops? Good profitable businesses. This could be the biggest business than expensive coffee estates or rice fields. Some areas of Coorg are the best place to grow wine grapes, to manufacture fine wine. Best moneymaking ventures. Does any Kodavas own fine chains of restaurants in Coorg or chains of coffee shops or chains of small business or chains of motels in Coorg? The question is why Coorgs are running away to other places to earn small salaries, living in small places, breathing dirt air, because none took leadership to help Coorgs in Coorg in 1950’s. I would say jealous and plain stupidity. Major changes among Coorgs must be necessary to survive.
Future:
Mind you guys, by 2013 there could be a major war throughout the world, which is looming ever closer, say, 2nd Mahabharata war. We at coorg have this really big crab culture of pulling a person down when he is trying to climb up. I have seen many examples of them.
The only way you can see your community developing is by following it yourself and not laughing it off. I was just visiting a durga pooja pandal yesterday and was surprised at the way the bengalis are maintaining their culture which is their identity and dont think that doing the aarti dance is something small in front of crowds which are primarily people who arent bengalis.
The same way we got to realise that Whats our culture is OUR identity and people should not flinch from following it. Speaking in our mother tongue is supposedly considered low on some peoples mind and trust me i wont want to actually befriend any person who does so. When a kannadiga can talk in kannada why cant kodavas talk in kodava takk? Godamm open minded people wake up. I have seen kodava functions outside coorg and in some places announcements are made in english for christs sake. When will we learn. Well never if we roam with this mindset.
